Stage 2 · Licence

What the register says.

French payment institution, ACPR licence 16958, issued on 21 June 2018. In Germany it operates under joint ACPR and BaFin supervision.

  1. Open ACPR authorisation check and search the legal entity, not the brand.
  2. Check the authorisation status and read the category: payment institution, not credit institution.
  3. Write down the field Licence number 16958 together with the date you checked it.

Stage 3 · Protection

What happens if this entity fails.

Client funds segregated at partner banks. Qonto itself is not a bank and holds no deposit guarantee.

The French 100,000 euro guarantee applies if a partner bank fails, not if Qonto fails. Partners named publicly include Credit Mutuel Arkea, Natixis, Societe Generale and Rothschild Martin Maurel, so cover is spread across institutions.

What we have not verified yet

  • Current split of client funds between partner banks and money market funds

An empty cell is more honest than a guess. These lines stay here until we can put a source next to them.

Stage 1 · Interface

What to look at before you migrate.

Qonto is built around finance teams: roles, approvals and accounting exports are first class features rather than add ons.
